:(

Spring break and a free day at the Shedd Aquarium collided on Tuesday...creating a really really really long line. We drove in on the Eisenhower, paid 20 bones for our space in the parking garage by Soldier Field, walked all the way to the Aquarium in the cold outdoors, and found this:

I immediately turned and started running, in case mom and dad tried to sucker me into grabbing a spot at the back of this mass of humans. What you see here is only about half of the line. As far as I know, there wasn't anything crazy happening with the fish that day, but all those people waited in line for upwards of three hours! Not us. Life is full of disappointments, I suppose. Oh well!
It turned into a pretty sweet photo...although Peter will probably give me some crap about his iPhone 5's superior panorama capabilities.
And he'll be right. :P
Life is indeed full of disappointments.

Across Three Weekends

The past three weekends have been weighing on my heart because...I spent time with some great people and haven't written anything about it! Considering I'm covering three exhilarating weekends here, I'll try to keep the narrations concise:

G2 is the Only One for Me

I'm a pen snob. G2 is the best, and I'll shout it from the rooftops. I scorn these dopey pens that only work a third of the time. Ugh. A disgrace to pen nature. You try to sign your name, and they don't work. You swipe them against your brightly colored pants with just a smidgen of pressure, and suddenly they're just spouting ink. G2 is the way to go. Trust me.

The VOICE!!!

It all starts tonight! Season 4!!!

Poppers n Wings

It's time for March Madness!!! The second day of the tournament is under way. There's a pizza in the oven. The traditional snack food hasn't showed up yet, but I'm counting on it. Poppers, wings, chips n dip, mozzarella sticks, etc. Buffalo wings disgust me, but even I will stand by quietly as others gorge themselves on fake chicken for the greater good of the basketball spirit. I've already got bragging rights for calling the Oregon game (in your face!). And i would like to take a moment to remember, as i will every year starting now, the greatest NCAA game in the history of the tourney. Lehigh vs. Duke 2012. We have a new tv this year, about six times the size of our puny black box we used to settle for. And i havent heard the Na-Na-Na-Na Nappa Know How commercial yet. Life is good! You should know I put together an entire dissertation on my bracket and the reasons behind my picks. Then I deleted it. Because it will suffice to state three things:
1. I hate Duke.
2. Louisville is going to win it all.
3. Ben McLemore is my favorite college basketball player ever.

Ben McLemore and his Kansas State family. I didn't predict him and his tattoos taking the Jayhawks all the way...but just this once i wouldn't mind being proven wrong.

This Time Last Year...

Happy Spring!!! One year ago, my life was good. My life is good now, too. Haha i'm not complaining; just reminiscing. I'm looking through my pictures from last spring, and life was great. I took a ton of pictures, since I had just gotten my camera the Christmas before. It was abnormally warm for a few weeks in March, and I thought we were in heaven. March Madness and 80 degree weather? That sure sounds nice to me. We were walking around the block...Grant to Linden to Norfolk to Poplar...we were home...flip-flops...shorts and t-shirts...playing basketball on the Poppers' hoop...sneaking into my neighbors' yards to take pictures of their flowers...playing super mario on our mini television with the sunlight streaming through the window at 6pm...eating small tiny fish fillets (more like the size of those little fish sticks, but pudgy and you only get one)...mom hanging out in her recliner, still recovering from toe surgery...trying to make a swing on the tree outside (and failing miserably)...a lovely Spring in Bangor, Maine.

The first Spring flower of 2012!

A Prominent Purpose

I'm one of those people who has to have everything planned out. I need to know what's going on, and when it will be happening. Maybe I'm a control freak. Maybe I need to take up yoga. Maybe, if this progresses, I will have to carry around a paper bag to prevent hyperventilation when life charges me with a blitz. But let's hope not.
I am talking about college. I don't know what my future holds, and it kills me! So many schools. So many cities in which to attend school. Heck, so many countries in which to attend school. So many areas of study. I've gotten so many emails and brochures from colleges and universities around the country. If you haven't started getting the recruiting emails, my fellow high schoolers, just wait. Feel the love for a few days, and then think of how full your email trash bin is going to be, come graduation.
All the possibilities are overwhelming! What will it feel like next year, as a senior, when I'm actually pressed for time to make the decision? I've thought about going back to Maine. I've thought about commuting to a school nearby. I've thought about heading south. I've thought about skipping out on college altogether. I've thought about studying art for a year or two in Paris, then spending some time at Oxford looking studious while acquiring a cool accent, then hitting the hollywood scene just long enough to rise to fame and disappear without a trace and then, to wrap it all up, graduating from Notre Dame with a bachelors in scrapbooking. I've ruled out pretty much all of those options.

The Art of the Hair

Hair days are always a circus at my house.
Both Genet and Alyssa must have new hairdos every few weeks.
Said hairdos must be cute and classy.
In addition, they must require no less than 5 hours to complete.
