It's A Boy!

No, a new baby did NOT just find his way into our family tree. Rather, "It's a boy!" (said with great volume and force) is what I have to tell everyone who sees my dog, Kodiak (a.k.a Kody), for the first time.
That detail and the distinction that he is indeed a Bichon Frise, not a Poodle, are need-to-know, albeit less than obvious facts you will be clued in to when you meet him. See, he does looks rather feminine. He's small and white and fluffy. Everyone calls him "cute"....Unless you are among the people (a minority, I assure you) who are of the opinion that he resembles a mole. He does not! Can't he be somewhere between "cute" and "mole-ish"? Like maybe, oh idk, handsome? Dapper? Now I'll admit, sometimes I catch myself using the c-word (cute begins with a "c". Just a reference for the few of you out there who might need a leg up) to describe him, and it is especially hard to resist calling him cute, adorable even, after he's been freshly groomed. Which he was this past Friday. He was slightly more manly-looking when he was shaggy but now the poor pooch has a cotton ball for a head! What will this do for his self-esteem? Well, At least my big brother paid him a worthy compliment. Michael saw his new haircut through Skype and apparently Kody looks like Benjamin Franklin. So if Kodiak has any clue of American history and the witty dude who invented the lightening rod, perhaps he will take that comparison to heart...and be able to live with himself. At least until his hair grows out. By the way, Jojo had a less than pleasant experience with the razor recently as well, but THAT is a story you will have to hear from him. Let's just say he's gotten very familiar with his Bruins beanie lately... ;)
Before the fateful Friday...

...and after the damage was done.
I guess we just have to face the music, Kody, you are super-duper cute.
