Pizza!!!

If you ever have the opportunity to visit the Nelson home on a Friday, you will quickly (assuming you are a human of average intelligence) conclude that Friday is pizza night.
The various signs such as the laboring bread machine, the bickering over what movie to watch, and morphing of the TV room into a dining room are difficult to miss. That bread machine works hard to cough up enough pizza dough for all of us, and us kids make even more noise when choosing a movie. ;) pizza&movie night is the height of the week, when we cast all our worries aside and gorge ourselves on mom's homemade pizza. Oh man, that deliciousness can wipe away every care in the world. My family just loves pizza. Okay, so my personal favorite pizza ever is Gino's East deep-dish, and my personal favorite pizza house ever is Connie's...also in Chicago. You haven't experienced a real good pizza place if you haven't been to Connie's. Golden Crust is great too, my brother worked there a while back and guess where that is? Chi-town! And if you've been to the Windy City you must know that Lou Malnati's sausage is just amazing. It is one circle of sausage that covers the entire pizza. Yeah. Amazing. But while we're on the subject of meat, i must give credit to Tri City Pizza right here in Bangor, Maine. They have some spicy sausage that i love. And of course after a soccer or basketball game us kids will ask to pick up a good ol' meat pizza from Sam's Club (and their crust is just so yummy!). I like barbecue chicken pizza, too, when i can get it. But even with all those classic and funky pizzas and pizza places, mom's pizza is just special. It's comfort food. It is familiar, while all those favorites I've named are in the once-in-a-while bracket. Go figure we live right around the corner from Tri City Pizza, but I can count on one hand the times of eaten it. That's because make our own Italian pie just about every Friday. It's tradition! (And that's when you launch into a rendition of the beloved and slightly irritating song from Fiddler on the Roof.) I guess anything homemade really just has no comparison!

oh how i love pepperoni <3
